We believe that mental health care should be as accessible as possible. Therefore, we are contracted with several insurance companies. In most cases, there are still costs associated with receiving services, largely dependent upon your insurance plan.

Currently, most providers of The Northrop Connection, LLC are in network with the following insurance companies: Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Optum, Oscar, Caresource (Marketplace Only), Humana, Medicare, and Aetna. We are in process of applying to be in the Medicaid network.

Please notify our Office Manager or Scheduler of your insurance, so you can be properly matched to an in-network provider.

Congratulations! You've decided to take a huge step forward for you and find out what service is best for you!

Depending on your particular needs, medication and therapy may be the most effective plan for you. While not everyone needs both therapy and medication, we have recognized that psychiatric care is a significant need in our community. Further, medication works best when the prescriber and therapist can work together and be available for collaboration. The Northrop Connection has two Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, Louise Wise and Shy Warren, available for medication management. At this time, they are in network with Medicare, Aetna, Oxford, Oscar, Caresource (Marketplace only), Humana, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and United Healthcare. Please click here for more information: The Northrop Connection Medication Management Services

The Northrop Connection is incredibly fortunate to have a Full-Time Office Manager, Angie Downing. Angie takes care of scheduling, billing, and many other matters that keep our office running! Angie can be reached by calling our main number: 678-332-7955 or by emailing her directly at [email protected].

We also engage the services of a billing company called Headway. They handle all billing for certain insurance companies, including United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford, Cigna, and Aetna. For clients who carry any of these insurances, you will interface directly with Headway for all copayments and other billing issues, but clinical care and scheduling will continue to be handled with your Therapist and/or Nurse Practitioner.

At The Northrop Connection, we believe that group therapy can be a wonderful addition to individual therapy or medication management. Currently, we offer 4 different groups:

DBT Skills Group for Adults: every Wednesday from 4:00-5:30PM in our Dallas office. This group is facilitated by Jessica Northrop and is available to adults who are struggling with emotion regulation, addiction, unpredictable moods, and/or interpersonal difficulties.

Rising Strong (Brene Brown curriculum): every Thursday starting on March 2. This group is a wonderful asset for adults who have been through a rough time and are committed to coming out stronger on the other side. Facilitator: Jessica Northrop

Safe Space Saturday: This group is every Saturday from 11-12:30 and is for teens (13-18) and incorporates DBT Skills and other coping skills to help teens better regulate their emotions. Facilitator: Erica Jasper.

DBT Skills for Addiction: This group is every Thursday from 4-5:30 and is available for adults who are dealing with addiction and are trying to get sober. Facilitator: Katie Meade.

All groups are $35 per person per group and are not covered by insurance.

To participate in any of these groups, please call 678-332-7955 or email [email protected].

Yes, insurance is confusing. We do our best to help you with it. Here are a few terms that will be helpful:

In-network vs. Out-of-Network: If your provider is "in-network" with your insurance company, it means that we have a contract to charge you exactly the terms of that contract. This means that we accept whatever the terms are of your plan. If you have a deductible, or a copay, or a coinsurance, that will be what we charge (more on that later). If we are out of network with your insurance plan, this means that we have no specific agreement with your insurance company, and we charge our usual and customary rates as listed above. You will be responsible for the full fee of your session, and we will provide you with a "superbill", which has all of the information for you to submit to your insurance company to request reimbursement. In many cases, you can recoup 50-80% of what you have paid to us in this scenario.

Copay: If we are in-network with your insurance company, you may have a copay of anywhere from $10-70 per session. The Northrop Connection is not responsible for setting this copay. Your insurance plans determines this amount, and it is the amount due for services rendered. We cannot waive or alter this fee, per our contract.

Deductible: Some insurance plans have a deductible that must be met before insurance starts paying providers. This amount can be anywhere from $500 to $10,000. The deductible resets each plan year. If you have a deductible to meet, it means you must pay the full fee of your session until that deductible is met. You meet your deductible with every medical appointment/procedure you have, not just your therapy appointments.

Coinsurance: Some insurance plans rely on a percentage fee split, which means that the client may pay for example 30%, and the insurance will pay the other 70%. This is called a coinsurance and would be your payment responsibility in lieu of the copay.

Benefits check: When you schedule an appointment with us, our Office Manager or Billing Company (Headway) will check your benefits, meaning that we will directly call your insurance company to get an estimate of the client cost share. We will pass this information on to you and will use it as the basis for your charges. This is only an estimate, however. As frustrating as it is for both the client and provider, the honest truth is that we can never know exactly what the insurance will pay until we send the claim off and receive their feedback. Our preference is for the insurance to pay as much as possible, and we work with professional Billers to help with this. Once our efforts have been exhausted, if you received a service from The Northrop Connection, it is your responsibility to ensure that your provider is paid for their time and expertise.

Questions? Please reach out to our Office Manager, Angie Downing or the Practice Owner, Jessica Northrop at 678-332-7955 or via email at [email protected] or [email protected]

The "No Surprises Act" was enacted on 1/1/2022, and it came as quite a surprise to independently practicing clinicians. We fully support the intent of this Act. This Act was created to prevent "surprise" billing that often occurs when you are admitted into a hospital and may get seen by a provider in the hospital who happens to be out of network with your insurance. The "No Surprises Act" compels providers to inquire if you have insurance, to notify you if we are in network or out of network with that insurance, and to provide you with a "Good Faith Estimate" of your costs that will be associated with care. Without having ever met or assessed you, it will not be possible to give you an exact estimate of your annual costs. You can, however, get an idea of your costs by determining your copay (if we are in network) or by reviewing our above rates (if we are out of network) and multiplying that amount by how often you desire to be seen. Questions? Please contact Angie Downing, Office Manager, at 678-332-7955 or [email protected]. Or, view this article: https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
